The kitties arrived yesterday afternoon.
Will, the tiny little one, flat-faced and very round all over, is the more confident one, as he was hand-reared and is used to people. So he soon was purring away on my lap. As for Tom, he is rather skittish but he wants to play non-stop. So, thanks to a piece of string we could touch him a bit to gradually get him used to hands. When he was asleep on a chair, he allowed a bit of petting and started purring, and this morning, after jumping, pouncing and running like a lunatic, he even settled down on my lap and purred away contentedly. The funniest thing, of course, is when they chase each other. Although Will, being so little gets a bit cat-handled by Tom sometimes. Still, he gives as good as he gets.
They already managed to break a nice Japanese bowl from Habitat! >-O
Yesterday they had a very tiring day - with vaccinations, microchipping, travelling and getting used to a new environment. So they slept like logs and there were no disruptions last night.

I was a cat once.
Aren't we all anyway, if I remember this great song in the Aristocats?! Should not 'Everybody wants to be a cat' be the anthem of this blog?
So, I was a cat once. And I was adopted for a short while by these exact same chaps (actually more cats themselves than chaps, purring on the sofa!) who are today providing a home to Will and Tom. As much as I remember, in this very scary world at that time when even a piece of string was hardly enough to touch me, Kevin and Fran always found ways to make me feel comfortable and reassured. Retrospectively, why didn't I stay there longer? Thank God I never broke a Habitat bowl (horrified scream...)
Will and Tom are going to be very happy. So will be Kevin and Fran. Love to all.
Here are the lyrics of 'Everybody wants to be a cat' (by Floyd Huddleston and Al Rinker)
Everybody wants to be a cat,
Because a cat's the only cat
Who knows where it's at.
Everybody's pickin' up on that feline beat,
'Cause everything else is obsolete.
Now a square with a horn,
Can make you wish you weren't born,
Ever'time he plays;
And with a square in the act,
He can set music back
To the caveman days.
I've heard some corny birds who tried to sing,
But a cat's the only cat
Who knows how to swing.
Who wants to dig
Along-haired gig
Or stuff like that?
When everybody wants to be a cat.
A square with that horn,
Makes you wish you weren't born,
Ever'time he plays;
And with a square in the act,
He's gonna set this music back
To the Stone Age days.
Everybody wants to be a cat,
Because a cat's the only cat
Who knows where it's at;
While playin' jazz you always has a welcome mat,
'Cause everybody digs a swingin' cat.
Everybody digs a swingin' cat.
